PKK terrorist surrenders in southeastern Turkey
50 kilograms of improvised explosives, ammunition also seized

MARDIN, Turkey (AA) - A PKK/PYD terrorist surrendered to security forces in southeastern Mardin province’s Nusaybin district on Sunday morning, according to the regional governor’s office.
Separately, 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of improvised explosives were seized during a field research also in Nusaybin district, the office said in another written statement.
Also, in Mardin’s Kiziltepe district, six anti-tank ammunitions, two kilograms of plastic explosives, 10 meters of detonating cord, eight electronic fuses, six electronic circuit mechanisms, three batteries and a remote controller were found in a bag left on the roadside.
The explosives and ammunition were destroyed.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey as well as the U.S. and EU. In its more than three-decade terror campaign against Turkey, more than 40,000 people have been killed.
Since the group resumed its armed campaign in July 2015, more than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
