PKK uses own media to announce attacks, threats

The terrorist organization has killed thousands of people including women and children in 30 years

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey (AA) – The terrorist organization PKK has been announcing all of its massacres and threats through its own media outlets based in Europe.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.

It conducted its first armed assault against the state on Aug. 15, 1984 by attacking military units, in the Semdinli district of the southeastern Hakkari province and Eruh district of southeastern Siirt province.

A soldier named Suleyman Aydin was martyred in the attack, and nine soldiers and three civilians were injured.

Three years later, on Jan. 22, 1987 a house in Ortabag village of southeastern Sirnak province, where a wedding was taking place was attacked, killing eight people including two children and four women.

The very next day, PKK terrorists killed 10 people including two babies, and injured 10 others in Gundukorte town of the southeastern Mardin province’s Midyat district.

The organization continued its massacres by shooting eight people including six children dead in Acikyol village of Nusaybin district in Mardin on March 7, 1987.

In another deadly attack, 30 people including 16 children and six women were killed at Pinarcik village of Mardin’s Omerli district.


-Pregnant women, 3-day-old babies killed

On July 8, 1987, terrorists killed nine people including seven children and two women, in Haraberk area of Midyat district in Mardin.

On the same day, 16 people were shot dead in Pecenek village by terrorists.

The PKK terrorists attacked Ciftekavak area of southeastern Sirnak province and murdered 11 people including four children and five women – two of them were pregnant.

While the wounds of the last attack were still fresh, terrorists attacked Sirnak again. On October 10, they killed 13 people, including women, children and the elderly, and injured nine.

After its continued massacre in the 1990s and suffering heavy losses in rural areas, the terrorist group has headed towards urban centers in the 2000s.

In 1998 it attacked the crowded spice bazaar in Istanbul killing seven people and injuring 121.

In a separate attack on May 12, 2016, 16 people were killed and 23 others wounded when an explosive-laden vehicle blew up in Tanisik neighbourhood of Yenisehir district in the eastern province of Bingol.

The attack left 36 children orphaned and eight women widowed.

Recently, Orhan Mercan, Justice and Development (AK) Party's deputy head in the Lice district of Diyarbakir province, and Aydin Ahi, deputy head of the AK Party in the Ozalp district of Van province were killed in PKK attacks.

Also, three road workers were killed in an armed attack by the terrorist group in the southeastern province of Sirnak.

The terrorist PKK has claimed responsibility for each attack via its media organs in Europe. Europe-based media outlets of the terrorist organization are also threatening citizens who do not support terrorism.

PKK media outlets have been shut down in Turkey due to its terrorist propaganda.
