Poland reports highest daily COVID-19 deaths

ANKARA AA) - Poland on Wednesday reported 603 new deaths and 19,883 additional cases over the last 24 hours from COVID-19, the highest daily figure since the start of the pandemic.

With the new cases, 772,823 people so far tested positive for the novel coronavirus and 11,451 people lost their lives since the pandemic began, health authorities reported.

Some 22,812 COVID-19 patients are currently under treatment in hospitals countrywide, with 2,117 on ventilators.

Over the past day, 18,601 people recovered from the disease, raising the total recoveries to 342,883.

Last month, Poland, to curb the spread of the virus, took stricter measures such as limiting the operations of shopping malls, hotels, cinemas, and museums, as well as returning to remote education.

According to new measures, children under the age of 16 can only leave their homes under adult supervision between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time.

Restaurants, cafes, and pubs in the country are only allowed to provide delivery service.
