Popular British radio presenter found dead in Lebanon

BEIRUT (AA) – A British radio presenter was found dead in his apartment on Tuesday in Lebanon’s Beit Mery district northeast of capital Beirut, according to local media reports.

Gavin Ford, 53, had reportedly worked as a presenter for Lebanon’s “Radio One” broadcaster since 1996.

According to local media outlets, he had hosted “Gavin Ford in the Morning” -- a popular radio show -- with co-host Olga Habre.

Lebanon’s Daily Star newspaper quoted an unnamed Lebanese security source as saying Ford had been “murdered”.

“But it remains unclear whether he was killed yesterday [Monday] or today [Tuesday],” the source was quoted as saying.

Following news of Ford’s death, U.K. Ambassador to Lebanon Chris Rampling tweeted: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Gavin Ford, one of Lebanon’s most popular morning breakfast hosts.”
