Portugal's annual inflation hits 30-year high
Consumer prices rose 9.3% year-on-year in September, final data shows

ANKARA (AA) – Portugal's annual consumer inflation rate rose to a 30-year high of 9.3% in September, according to a final reading from the country's statistical authority on Thursday.
The figure was up from 8.9% in August due to higher food and energy prices, the Instituto Nacional de Estatistica data showed.
Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages jumped 16.4% year-on-year in September, while energy prices surged 22.2% on an annual basis.
The annual core inflation rate, which excludes energy and unprocessed food products, came in at 6.9% in September, up from 6.5% the previous month.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 1.2% in September, accelerating from a 0.9% month-on-month rise in August.
