TRIPOLI, Libya (AA) - Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh encouraged Libyans on Tuesday to "go out and express their opinion and fear only God,” stressing his support for holding elections and his rejection of division.

His remarks came in a speech on the sidelines of his attendance at a football match in Al-Zawiya, according to the Libyan Government Portal.

Following the decision by the House of Representatives to withdraw confidence from the government, the High Council of State said that that move was "void" because its procedures violated the constitutional declaration and the political agreement.

"No to war, no to division, yes to elections," said Dbeibeh. “Our goal is to expel the specter of war forever.”

“We are strongly with the country's unity and integrity," he added.

Dbeibeh did not comment on the House of Representatives' withdrawal of confidence from his government.

But addressing the Libyan people, he said: "You are the owner of the word and legitimacy.”

Tension has risen between parliament, the High Council of State and the unity government regarding electoral powers and laws.

Tuesday’s move by parliament threatens plans to hold parliamentary and presidential elections on Dec 24.

Meanwhile, renegade Gen. Khalifa Haftar still acts separately from the unity government and claims to be "commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army," quarreling with the Presidential Council on competencies.
