Pro-Palestine group calls for int’l action on Global Day to Stop Genocide in Gaza

'Together, we will continue to advocate until Palestine is liberated and its people can live in peace and dignity,' says Palestinian Forum in Britain

LONDON (AA) - A UK-based Palestine solidarity group has called on countries and cities around the world to join a global day of action in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB) urged people worldwide to organize protests on Feb. 17 as part of the Global Day to Stop Genocide in Gaza.

"This international initiative aims to shed light on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and advocate for the freedom and rights of Palestinians," it said in a statement Tuesday.

Adnan Hmidan, vice president of the PFB, said this action is "extremely important," not only for emphasizing the global popular rejection of this "genocide" but also because it is calling for accelerating the procedures of international law, a cease-fire and holding war criminals accountable.

He said the international day of action is also significant to pressure governments to move immediately to stop the occupation from committing its crimes in violation of international conventions.

"We hope that on our second day of unified global solidarity with Gaza, you will witness greater interaction on the six continents, knowing that we will continue to demonstrate for Palestine until it returns free," Hmidan added.

Pointing to the dire humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave, the group noted that they stand united with Gaza in pursuit of justice and freedom.

"Together, we will continue to advocate until Palestine is liberated and its people can live in peace and dignity," the statement added.
