Protests urging civilian rule rock Sudan
Western envoys also arrive in capital Khartoum to help broker mediation out of current crisis

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AA) - Nationwide protests erupted Thursday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum calling for full civilian rule in the country.
The protesters shouted anti-military ruling slogans and called for the resignation of Abdul Fattah Alburah, head of the Sovereign Council, and his deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
The protests come amid deep political tension between pro-military and pro-civilian factions in Khartoum.
Separately, British and other Western envoys Thursday arrived in the capital to broker mediation for the current crisis.
Deep tension erupted between the military and civilians in Sudan after a failed military coup last month.
