LONDON (AA) - Queen Elizabeth II will not attend the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland which starts this Sunday, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said: "Following advice to rest, the Queen has been undertaking light duties at Windsor Castle.
"Her Majesty has regretfully decided that she will no longer travel to Glasgow to attend the Evening Reception of COP26 on Monday, 1 November.
"Her Majesty is disappointed not to attend the reception but will deliver an address to the assembled delegates via a recorded video message."
Earlier today, the queen, 95, carried out two virtual audiences from Windsor Castle.
They were her first official engagements since spending a night in the hospital last Wednesday – her first overnight hospital stay in eight years. She was told to rest by doctors.
Buckingham Palace said last week that she was admitted to hospital for “preliminary investigations” and that she had returned to Windsor Castle on Thursday afternoon and remained in “good spirits.”
