DIYARBAKIR, Türkiye (AA) - Historic fountains in Türkiye’s southeastern province of Diyarbakir will once again flow with water thanks to a restoration project.
According to a statement from the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality, the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Directorate (DISKI) will restore several fountains in the first phase of the project, enabling water to flow from them after decades.
DISKI General Manager Firat Tutsi said the fountains, especially those in the historic Sur district of Diyarbakir, contribute greatly to tourism.
Highlighting the significance of their efforts, Tutsi said: "One of the fountains to be restored is the 148-year-old Kurtoglu Fountain located on the Diyarbakır-Elazig highway."
