HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) - Two Turkish road construction workers slain by PKK terrorists while on the job were laid to rest in eastern Turkey on Tuesday.

The two were killed in southeastern Turkey on Monday while building a road in the Yuksekova district, said a statement by the Hakkari Governor’s Office.

The workers’ funerals were held on Tuesday in their hometown in Ercis in the eastern Van province, some 180 kilometers away.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women and children.
