Roadside bomb hits minivan in Afghan capital, 1 dead

KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) - A roadside bomb struck a minibus in the heart of the Afghan capital Kabul, killing a woman and injuring eight other civilians Monday, according to an Interior Ministry official.

The blast took place close to the Attorney-General’s Office during the evening rush hour in the Taimani area of the city.

Sediq Sediqqi, ministry spokesman, said the improvised explosive device had been planted on the roadside.

According to an eyewitness, the minibus was carrying employees of a private telecommunication firm.

No group or individual immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Similar attacks in the past have been claimed by the Taliban.

Separately, the Ministry of Defense said it killed at least 55 militants in its ongoing operations in 14 out of 34 provinces of the country in the last 24 hours.
