ANKARA (AA) - A Russian delegation visited Ankara on Monday as part of an investigation into the assassination of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov at an art exhibition in Ankara last December.
According to information obtained by Anadolu Agency, the Russian delegation consists of a prosecutor, diplomats, members of the Emergency Ministry and forensic experts.
The delegation received information from prosecution authorities about the investigation into Karlov’s assassination at the Ankara court.
The Russian delegation is expected to visit the Ankara police headquarters on Tuesday to receive additional information about the ongoing investigation.
Karlov was shot and killed in Ankara on Dec.19, 2016, during an art exhibition when he was delivering a speech.
As part of the investigation into the assassination of Karlov, five people were arrested including three police officers and Guru Media Broadcast Group Chairman Hayreddin Aydinbas.
Turkey-Russia relations were tested after the assassination. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the shooting a "provocation" designed to undermine bilateral ties.
