Russian jet intercepts US B-52 bomber over Baltic Sea

ANKARA (AA) - A Russian fighter jet intercepted an American B-52 bomber along the Russian border over the Baltic Sea, according to Russia's news agency TASS on Tuesday.

Citing the Russian Defense Ministry, TASS said Russian air defense detected an aircraft on Tuesday at around 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) over the Baltic Sea.

It said Su-27 fighter jet from the Russian Baltic Fleet escorted the B-52 after identifying it. After the American bomber left the Russian airspace, the Su-27 returned to its base, the ministry said.
