Russian oligarch slams 'insane war' in Ukraine

LONDON (AA) - A Russian oligarch has denounced the “insane war” in Ukraine, claiming that 90% of Russians were “against this war.”

Oleg Tinkov, the founder of Tinkoff Bank, also called the Russian forces a “sh.t army,” in a post on Instagram.

“Waking up with a hangover, the generals realised that they have a shit army,” Tinkov, wrote.

“And how will the army be good, if everything else in the country is shit and mired in nepotism, sycophancy and servility?”

The Russian oligarch, who has been the target of western sanctions, said he did not see a “single beneficiary of this insane war!”

“Innocent people and soldiers are dying,” he added.

Tinkov stepped down as chairman of Tinkoff Bank in 2020.

“Dear ‘collective west’ please give Mr (Vladimir) Putin a clear exit to save his face and stop this massacre,” he appealed to the western powers.

“Please be more rational and humanitarian.”

“90 percent of Russians ARE against this war!” Tinkov said.

“Of course there are morons who draw Z but 10 percent of any country are morons,” he said, referring to the symbol that was spotted on Russian armored vehicles and later became a symbol of support to Russia’s war in Ukraine.

He added that Russian businessmen are “trying to rescue what’s left of their property.”

The war in Ukraine started almost 2 months ago and many Russian oligarchs have been targeted by the West with harsh sanctions alongside Russian officials.

Tinkov, whose wealth is thought to be around $3.5 billion, was sanctioned by the UK.
