Russian shelling kills at least 1, leaves 3 injured in Ukraine

Ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has killed over 8,900 civilians, wounded more than 15,400, according to latest UN figures

ISTANBUL (AA) – One person was killed and three others were injured on Monday due to Russian shelling in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions, local officials said.

“On June 18, it became known about one resident of Donetsk region, who was killed by Russians – in Tonenko,” Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said in a statement on Telegram.

Kyrylenko further said that it is not possible to establish the exact number of victims in Mariupol and Volnovakha as the two cities are under Russia’s control.

Separately, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov said on Telegram that two people were injured and one of them was hospitalized due to stepping on a mine.

“Yesterday, the enemy fired artillery and mortars at the settlements of Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Chuhuiv, Bohodukhiv, and Izium districts,” the governor said.

Elsewhere, shelling was also reported in the Kherson region, where the Ukrainian State Emergency Service said rescuers extinguished several fires in the city “under the threat of repeated shelling.”

“During the past day, the enemy carried out 35 shellings, firing 261 shells from mortars, artillery and ‘Grads’ … Due to Russian aggression, one person was injured,” Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin also said on Telegram.​​​​​​​
