MOSCOW (AA) - Russian and Turkish militaries have started consultations on the latest developments in Syria in the capital Moscow on Thursday.

A high-level Turkish delegation which consists of officials from general staff, foreign and defense ministries, and representatives of the other relevant institutions, is holding a meeting with their Russian colleagues on a number of topics about the Syrian conflict, an anonymous diplomatic source from Turkish side told Anadolu Agency.

The two sides discuss the additional steps to fulfill the implementation of Russian-Turkish memorandum on Syria’s Idlib, the source said.

Preparations for the trilateral summit at the level of the heads of states of Iran, Russia and Turkey, planned for Feb. 14 is also on the agenda, according to the source.

The Turkish delegation will stay in Russia till Sunday.

Last September, following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the two sides agreed to set up a demilitarized zone in Idlib.

Under the deal, opposition groups in Idlib are to remain in areas where they are already present, while Russia and Turkey conduct joint patrols in the area to prevent renewed fighting.

At the meeting on Jan.23, presidents of Russia and Turkey agreed to work out additional measures to boost the memorandum implementation.
