ANKARA (AA) - South Korea said Thursday human bones believed to be from at least one of the crew members of a huge cargo ship that went down in 2017 in the Atlantic were found during a deep-sea search.

South Korean news agency Yonhap cited a Foreign Ministry statement that said a team of professional divers found bones believed to be from one of the missing victims of the Stellar Daisy which went missing in the South Atlantic while en route to China from Brazil, carrying 260,000 tonnes of iron ore.

There were eight South Korean and 14 Filipino crew members on board the huge bulker which was roughly the same size as 100 tennis courts.

Search teams found on Feb. 20 part of the "remains, seen as human bones, and an orange-colored object that appears to be working clothes, on the seabed around a fragment of the hull", South Korean Foreign Ministry said.

Yonhap said the search team had retrieved a voyage data recorder last weekend of the ill-fated vessel.
