Saudi Arabia makes additions to terrorist list

The move is first collective action by Terrorist Financing Targeting Center, founded by US and Gulf countries

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AA) – Two entities and 11 individuals have been added to a terror list for supporting terrorist groups Daesh and al-Qaeda, Saudi Arabia’s official news agency reported Wednesday.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the sanctions imposed on "leaders, financiers, and facilitators of ISIL in Yemen and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula,” using a different acronym for Daesh.

“This action was taken in partnership with the United States of America, as co-chair of the recently established International Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC), and also included the other TFTC member states,” the SPA reported.

Wednesday’s move was a “collective action -- first taken by the TFTC”, the report said.

The TFTC was formed this May during U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia and aims to deepen the partnership between the U.S. and Gulf countries, according to the Saudi agency.

“As a result of today’s designations, all property and any other assets of these persons subject to Saudi Arabia jurisdiction are blocked and Saudi citizens and resident are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them,” the report added.
