ISTANBUL (AA) – American club Seattle Sounders beat Mexico’s Pumas UNAM 5-2 on aggregate to lift the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday night.

A brace from Peruvian forward Raul Ruidiaz and a late strike by Uruguayan midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro gave the Sounders a 3-0 win in the second leg at their packed home ground Lumen Field.

The first leg at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario in Mexico City last week had ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Sounders are the first Major League Soccer (MLS) team to win the CONCACAF Champions League, the top club competition for teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The victory also makes them the first MLS side to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup.
