ANKARA/DAKAR, Senegal (AA) – Senegal’s Foreign Minister Aissata Tall Sall exchanged views with her Ukrainian counterpart Thursday on the continuation of the cooperation between their two countries while also agreeing to intensify political dialogue.

During her phone call with Dmytro Kuleba, the issue of grain supplies to Africa was also discussed, despite the Russia-Ukraine war, Tall Sall wrote on Twitter.

“Spoke with my Senegalese counterpart @AissataOfficiel. Agreed to intensify political dialogue,” said Kuleba in a tweet.

“Ukraine is doing its utmost to end the ongoing Russian blockade of our sea ports so that Ukrainian agricultural exports can reach African markets to overcome shortages & rising prices,” he added.

At least 3,280 civilians have been killed and 3,451 others injured in Ukraine since Russia launched a war on the country on Feb. 24, according to UN estimates. The true toll is feared to be much higher.

More than 5.7 million people have fled to other countries, with some 7.7 million people internally displaced, according to data from the UN refugee agency.
