Serbian army shows its capabilities at comprehensive drill

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Serbian Armed Forces on Sunday demonstrated its military capability at a comprehensive drill in the capital Belgrade.

Over 5,000 members of defense forces, about 2,300 pieces of weaponry and military equipment, and more than 60 aircraft took part in Granite 2023 military exercises in the Batajnica airport.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, as well as hundreds of citizens, participated in the exercise.

The exercises displayed parachuting from a helicopter, a unit called "Cobra" neutralizing terrorists, and a demonstration of domestically produced military aircraft called "Eagle."

Vucic said he discussed the fight against terrorism with Orban.

"Today we introduced our weapons and the CH-95 model drone for the first time," said Vucic.

He added that Serbia strengthened its capacity for combat vehicles.

"Our army is getting stronger. We will also increase its troop capacity. Today's exercise was extremely good," said Vucic.

MiG-29, Orao, and Lasta aircraft, as well as Mi-35, H-145M, and Mi-17 helicopters, performed in the drill.

The FK-3 and Pantsir anti-aircraft missile systems were also demonstrated.
