Serbian president rejects claims of arming Ukraine

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) – President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday reiterated that Serbia “has not and will not” send weapons to Ukraine.

“Serbia has not and will not export weapons or ammunition to Ukraine, and there is no document that could show otherwise,” Vucic told journalists, rejecting reports based on the recent Pentagon data leaks that suggest Serbia had agreed to arm Ukraine.

“We will continue to invest in our production and factories … We have even laid out conditions that buyers cannot ship these weapons to battlefields,” he added.

Serbian factories will continue to export weapons all over the world in accordance with international rules and laws, he asserted.

On Wednesday, Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said reports about Serbia supplying weapons to Ukraine were nothing but lies.

“Someone’s goal is obviously to draw Serbia into the conflict, but we consistently stick to our established policy,” he said.

Serbia is the only country in Europe that has not imposed sanctions on Russia, despite officials repeatedly complaining of immense pressure from the EU and US.
