Several passengers hurt in Barcelona train crash

2 trains involved in rear-end collision at Montcada i Reixac station

ISTANBUL (AA) - Several passengers were injured in a collision between two trains at a station in Barcelona on Wednesday.

Spanish state-owned operator Renfe said a train crashed into another one from behind at the Montcada i Reixac station at around 7:50 a.m. (0650 GMT), news agency EFE reported.

Several people suffered injuries of varying degrees, according to the report.

Both trains run on Renfe’s R4 suburban line, which is currently closed to rail traffic, along with two other lines, R7 and R12.

Investigations have started to determine the cause of the accident, the report added.
