SRINAGAR, Jammu Kashmir (AA) - A complete shutdown was observed in Kashmir on Friday in protest at the killing of a 19-year-old student by Indian security forces.
Offices and businesses remained closed as anti-India protests were held across the region.
Adil Ahmad Magray was killed Wednesday when security forces opened fire on pro-independence demonstrators in Shopian district.
The killing sparked student protests and clashes with Indian forces.
Expecting further protests, the authorities shut educational institutions on Thursday and Friday.
Muslim-majority Kashmir is divided between India and Pakistan. More than 70,000 people have reportedly been killed since 1989 in a conflict between Kashmiri separatists and security forces.
