Some 1.3M road motor vehicles registered last year in Türkiye

ISTANBUL (AA) - In Türkiye, 2.7 million road motor vehicles were registered last year, with an increase of 10.1% on a yearly basis, the Turkish Statistical Institute stated on Tuesday.

As of the end of 2022, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached almost 26.5 million in the country; cars represented 53.9%, small trucks 16.2%, motorcycles 15.6%, tractors 7.9%, trucks 3.5%, minibusses 1.8%, buses 0.8% and special purpose vehicles 0.3%.

Among registered cars, the share of gasoline-engine share was at 70.1% in 2022, diesel followed it with 18%, hybrid with 18%, LPG with 2%, and electric at 1.4%.

At the end of December, among 14.27 million registered cars, the share of diesel was 36.9%, followed by LPG at 35.1%, gasoline at 26.8%, hybrid at 0.9%, and electric at 0.1%.

In December alone, 137,173 road motor vehicles were registered in the country.
