Spain beat Germany, advance to final 4 in EuroBasket

ANKARA (AA) - Spain defeated Germany 84-72 on Tuesday evening to advance to the semifinals in EuroBasket 2017.

Germany started the match in Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Dome on fire and were quickly up 11-2 in the first five minutes.

But Spain managed to made their comeback early, thanks to their experienced squad, and were up by one point, 34-33, after the first half.

In the third quarter, center Marc Gasol carried his team with his 18 points exclusively for the quarter and Spain managed to open up the deficit to 10-plus points.

Keeping ahold of their control in the fourth quarter, the Spaniards eliminated Germany.

Marc Gasol completed the match with 28 points and 10 rebounds. His big brother Pau Gasol, who recently became the highest-scoring player in EuroBasket history, chipped in with 19 points.
