'Sudan keen to raise trade volume with Türkiye'

$400M trade with Türkiye not up to level of historical relations between 2 countries, says Sudan's business leader

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AA) - Sudan wants to increase the bilateral trade volume with Türkiye and pave the way for Turkish businesspeople to invest in the Northeast African country, the head of Sudan’s Federation of Chambers of Commerce said on Thursday.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Nadir al-Hilali said the trade volume with Türkiye which amounts to about $400 million is not up to the level of the historical relations between the two countries.

Al-Hilali said they will invite Turkish investors to Sudan and present them with the investment opportunities his country offers.

He said that Sudan is very rich in resources such as livestock, agriculture, and mining and can meet the needs of all Arab countries as well as the Middle East region.

Though there are great opportunities for investment in the mining of gold, chrome, copper, and many other minerals, the necessary infrastructure is required to tap these resources, Al-Hilali said.

Surrounded by many landlocked countries, Sudan occupies a strategic location in the Red Sea. It offers great investment opportunities by linking these countries through the construction of roads, railways, and airports, he added.
