Sudan’s Bashir: Defend Palestinian Jerusalem Rights

Bashir says Sudanese youth are ready to defend the rights of the Arabs and Muslims

By Mohammed Amin

KHARTOUM (AA) - Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir condemned the U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel that sparked wide rejection among Arab and Islamic countries.

At a public address in Dongola city in northern Sudan on Monday Bashir vowed that Sudanese youth are ready to defend the rights of the Palestinians.

He further said that President Trump has no right to decide that, stressing that Khartoum is supporting the right of the Palestinians to have their state and its capital Jerusalem.

“The youth are ready to defend the rights of the Palestinians in having their state and make their capital at Jerusalem, that right is absolutely for the Muslims and the Arabs not the Jews,” he asserted.

Bashir further emphasized that Khartoum is rejecting the U.S. decision of relocating the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“Who gives you the right to give the Jerusalem to the Jews while it’s the right and land of the Muslims and Arabs” Bashir said, addressing Trump.

On Dec. 7, the Sudanese government rejected Trump’s decision and announced it's siding with Palestine.

Wide demonstrations took place in Khartoum last Friday, protesting the decision, raising anti-U.S. and Israel slogans.

Trump's announcement earlier this month is considered by Arab and Muslim countries as siding with Israel as both Israel and Palestine claim to have the right to make its capital in the city of Eastern Jerusalem.
