IDLIB, Syria (AA) – At least 20 people were injured in a regime airstrike on a nursery school in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province on Monday, according to a local civil defense official.
The attack targeted Addullah Ibn Abbas Preschool in Teftenaz village in Idlib, Mustafa Hajj Youssef, director of the White Helmets civil defense agency, said.
He said most of those injured in the attack were children.
Elsewhere, four civilians were reportedly killed when regime warplanes attacked residential areas in Binnish, Maaret Misrin and Ram Hamdan in Idlib, Hajj said.
He said the death toll is feared to rise.
Monday’s attacks came despite last month’s UN Security Council resolution demanding a 30-day cease-fire in war-torn Syria.
Syria has been locked in a devastating conflict since early 2011 when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.
According to UN officials, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict to date.
