TAL ABYAD, Syria (AA) – Emotional scenes were witnessed at many homes in Tal Abyad town, soon after its liberation, when many soldiers of Turkey-backed Syrian National Army reunited with their families.

The Arab majority town in northern Syria was liberated from YPG/PKK terrorists.

In 2014, many of the young men now recruited as soldiers in the Syrian National Army had to escape from their homes, to save their lives after the town was captured by Daesh and then by YPG/PKK terrorists.

Anadolu Agency reporters captured a video that shows Syrian National Army soldiers meeting their relatives and sharing happiness back in their homes.

Talking to Anadolu Agency, a Syrian National Army soldier, resident of Tal Abyad said that he met his sister and her son after six years.

“I am here joining my sister and her son after six-years. We did not know, if we can meet again. Thanks to Syrian National Army, that we returned to home,” he said.

In 2015, YPG/PKK terrorists occupied the city with the help of the U.S.

They attempted to change the demography of the city, by forcing Arab and Turkmens to leave the city.

On Oct 9, Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring to eject terrorists from northern Syria, in order to secure its borders, ensure safe return of refugees to their homes and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

Ankara wants to sanitize east of the Euphrates River in northern Syria from terrorist group PKK and its Syrian offshoot, the PYD/YPG.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the European Union -- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
