Taliban appreciates international community’s humanitarian support

ANKARA (AA) - The Taliban administration said Wednesday that it appreciated the international community’s humanitarian support to Afghanistan.

The first high-level Humanitarian Coordination Committee, chaired by the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi, gathered at the Finance Ministry in Kabul.

It was attended by the country’s representatives of UN agencies and high-level Taliban officials.

The Taliban said it appreciated the support to Afghans, thanked the UN Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2615, which provides a humanitarian exemption to sanctions, and the US Treasury's decision that permitted humanitarian aid and assistance to the country, the Finance Ministry said on Twitter.

The group again stated its commitment to provide safe access to humanitarian partners and urged close coordination and monitoring of humanitarian activities to ensure a transparent, fair, effective and non-discriminatory process.

UN agencies expressed contentment with the meeting, which they said would ensure better coordination with the Taliban administration and the donor community to deliver humanitarian assistance.
