Teen gunman turns gun on self

MEXICO CITY (AA) – A 15-year-old student injured five people in a shooting at an American school in Monterrey, according to authorities.
Officials refrained from naming the shooter but local media said Federico Guevara opened fire on a teacher and two classmates before he shot himself in the chin at the Colegio Americano del Noreste.
Nuevo Leon state security spokesman Aldo Fasci said at a news conference that four ''seriously injured'' victims have been taken to a hospital, adding that all students have been evacuated.
It is unclear how a fifth injury occurred.
Guevara, recently showed signs of depression, according to sources with knowledge of the shooting, Mexican media reported.
"I join with the pain and dismay of families and the school community", President Enrique Pena Nieto said via Twitter.
Fasci qualified the event as “unprecedented”, given that shootings at Mexican schools are rare but suggested the Internet played some role in the shooting.
"The children have access to the Internet. This is the result of a situation that is happening everywhere and seen everywhere," he said.
Previous policies that allowed school authorities to check students’ backpacks were discontinued after opposition from parents, Fasci said.
