Tesla reports record revenue, income in 4Q22 results

ISTANBUL (AA) - US-based electric carmaker Tesla said Wednesday that it achieved record revenue and income in 2022 and its fourth quarter.

Its total revenues climbed to $24.3 billion in the October-December period, rising 37% from $17.7 billion in the same period of the previous year.

Net income attributable to common stockholders jumped approximately 59% to almost $3.7 billion from $2.3 billion during the period, according to its financial results statement.

For the full year of 2022, total revenues rose to $81.5 billion for a 51% gain from $53.8 billion the previous year, while net income soared 128% to $12.5 billion from $5.5 billion in 2021.

The company said the fourth quarter of 2022 was "another record-braking quarter and 2022 was another record-breaking year. In the last quarter, we achieved the highest-ever quarterly revenue, operating income and net income in our history."

Income from operations stood at $3.9 billion in the October-December period -- up 49% from $2.6 billion in the same period of 2021.

For the full year of 2022, income from operations jumped 109% to $13.6 billion from $6.5 billion the year before.

Tesla's automotive revenues in the fourth quarter rose 33% to $21.3 billion from almost $16 billion year-on-year, while they increased 51% to $71.5 billion in 2022 from $47.2 billion in 2021.

The company reported on Jan. 2 that it produced over 439,000 vehicles and delivered over 405,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2022, while vehicle deliveries grew 40% year-on-year to 1.31 million and production annually increased 47% to 1.37 million last year.

After record financial results, Tesla's stock price jumped more than 3% to $149 per share during after-hours trading on the Nasdaq after closing Wednesday at $144.43 per share.
