Thailand: Frozen body parts found in fake passport raid

BANGKOK (AA) – A Thai police raid on an alleged passport forgery den has led to the arrest of three foreign suspects and the discovery of a dismembered body locked in a freezer in Bangkok.

Investigating Officer Disadee Kwansri told Anadolu Agency on Saturday, “when we inspected the compound we found hundreds of forged passports and the dismembered remains of a foreigner locked inside a freezer."

Police raided the compound at around 7 p.m. (1200GMT) Friday and exchanged gunfire with suspected gang members.

A police officer was injured in the exchange.

Police said they arrested two Americans and a British national.

They will be charged with concealing a dead body and attempted murder.

Thailand is no stranger to identity theft. Thousands of visitors lose or have their passports stolen in the country each year with many of the passports making their way onto the black market.
