Top Azerbaijani, Czech diplomats discuss bilateral relations, expanding cooperation

Foreign ministers stress importance of continuing political consultations, exchanging views on prospects for development of cooperation, says Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry

ISTANBUL (AA) - Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic's top diplomats discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand their cooperation on Thursday, during a meeting on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council in the Polish city of Lodz.

“During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic and noted that the existing relations are of strategic partnership nature,” a statement by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry read.

The statement said Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the potential for “further expansion of (bilateral) cooperation” during his meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky.

The foreign ministers underlined the importance of “continuing political consultations between the two countries and exchanged views on the prospects for the development of cooperation in a number of areas, including energy security, economy, and trade,” it noted.

“Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague about the current situation in the region after the conflict, the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of peacebuilding in the region, restoration and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, as well as ongoing mine threats,” the statement added.

It also said Bayramov and Lipavsky discussed regional and international security issues as well during the meeting.
