Tottenham reach last 16 with heroic comeback

Spurs bounce back from 2-0 deficit against Olympiacos to win 4-2 in Champions League match

ANKARA (AA) - English football club Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the UEFA Champions League last 16 stage Tuesday with an epic 4-2 win against Greece’s Olympiacos.

Olympiacos took a 2-0 lead against Tottenham in London after consecutive goals in the first half scored by French forward Youssef El-Arabi and Portuguese defender Ruben Semedo.

But Tottenham narrowed the gap to one when English star Dele Alli netted against Olympiacos in the first half's injury time.

The club, nicknamed Spurs, then equalized in the 50th minute when English forward Harry Kane found the net.

Tottenham's Ivorian right-back Serge Aurier scored against the Greek team in the 73rd minute of the match as the London club completed its comeback.

Kane scored once again for in the 77th minute to cement the Spurs’ victory.

Following the win, Tottenham qualified for the next stage, the Round of 16.

Group B runners-up Tottenham have earned 10 points in five matches. Meanwhile, leaders Bayern Munich have won all five of their games to earn 15 points in the group.

Top two teams Bayern Munich and Tottenham advanced to the knockout stage in the Champions League.

The clubs were followed by Serbia's Crvena Zvezda with 3 points.

Olympiacos are at the bottom of the group as the Piraeus team have earned only 1 point.

The team to finish this phase in third spot will enter the UEFA Europa League.

One match day is left in the group stage as Tottenham will visit Bayern Munich on Dec. 11.

In the next fixture, Olympiacos will take on Crvena Zvezda in Greece to fight for the Europa League ticket.
