Trump joins Indian premier at mass rally in Texas

WASHINGTON (AA) - U.S. President Donald Trump joined Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a mass rally in Texas on Sunday.

Trump hailed Washington’s ties with New Delhi at the Howdy, Modi! event in Houston, attended by thousands of people.

"I'm so thrilled to be here in Texas with one of America's greatest, most devoted and most loyal friends, Prime Minister Modi of India,” Trump said.

"Under PM Modi's leadership the world is witnessing a strong, driving and thriving republic of India,” he said.

The relations between the two countries are "stronger than ever before", the U.S. president stressed.

For his part, Modi described Trump as "friendly, warm and accessible," and said India has a "true friend" in the White House.
