Turkey: 11 arrested in anti-drug operations

More than 15 kg of hashish and 5 kg of heroin seized during raids across Turkey

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces arrested 11 suspects in nationwide anti-drug operations, a police source said Wednesday.

In the southern Kahramanmaras province, drug enforcement teams seized 300 illegal pills and arrested two suspects for drug trafficking, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Two suspects were arrested for drug trafficking in an anti-drug operation in the eastern Igdir province, the source added.

Also, two others were arrested in Corlu district in the northwestern province of Tekirdag.

In Karacabey district in the northwestern Bursa province, three suspects were apprehended for drug trafficking.

Separately, in Ipsala district in Turkey's northwestern Edirne province, anti-drug teams seized 15 kilograms (33 pounds) of hashish and 5 kg (11 lbs) of heroin, according to border units who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

In the northwestern Duzce province, police arrested a suspect and seized 117.7 grams (4.15 ounces) of hashish and two guns.

In the southern Adana province, a suspect was arrested and 1,000 illegal drug pills were impounded.
