Turkey: 14.9 tons of heroin production agent seized
Agent used in production of heroin found in a truck in southern Mersin province

ANKARA (AA) – Nearly 15 tons of an agent used in the illicit production of heroin was seized in Turkey's southern province of Mersin, the Customs and Trade Ministry said on Monday.
Anti-drug teams confiscated some 14.9 tons of acetic anhydride hidden in a truck traveling in a Turkish-flagged ro-ro ship, said a ministry statement.
The ship, which had departed from Italy, was searched at the port of Mersin, it said.
During the raid, the driver of the truck was remanded into custody.
