ANKARA (AA) - Turkish security forces arrested 15 suspects in nationwide anti-narcotics operations, police sources said Tuesday.
Also, a suspect was remanded in custody.
In eastern Van province, anti-narcotics teams seized 29.6 kilograms (65 pounds) of heroin and arrested one suspect for drug trafficking, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Two others were arrested during an operation in Ayvalik district in northwestern Balikesir province, the source added.
In Karacabey district of northwestern Bursa province, a suspect was apprehended and 148 grams (0.32 pounds) of bonzai were seized during a raid.
Separately, in southern Osmaniye province a suspect was arrested and 60 kilograms (132 pounds) of hashish were seized when security forces stopped a minibus on the Osmaniye-Gaziantep highway.
In the central Kirsehir province, two people were arrested.
In northwestern Edirne province, gendarmerie forces arrested two suspects and seized 404 grams (0.89 pounds) of hashish, according to a security official who asked not to be named due to restriction on speaking to the media.
A suspect was held while he was trying to smuggle drugs into a prison in northern Samsun province.
In eastern Erzurum province, police arrested a suspect and seized 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of heroin.
Police also arrested two suspects and confiscated 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) of heroin in an anti-drug operation in the southern province of Adana.
In Nizip district of the southeastern Gaziantep province, three suspects were apprehended.
