Turkey: 22 suspects arrested in anti-drug operations

Over 80 kg of marijuana also seized during operation

GAZIANTEP, Turkey (AA) – Turkish security forces arrested 22 suspects in anti-drug operations in the southeastern Gaziantep province on Friday, according to security sources.

The local police said in a statement that the suspects were arrested in simultaneous operations conducted at various addresses as part of combat against drug trafficking.

As the suspects were arrested for "handling and using drugs," the police units also seized 81 kilograms (178.5 pounds) of marijuana, 223 opiate drugs, seven unlicensed pistols and three blank cartridge pistols.

Police also seized the money found at suspects' addresses, which were believed to be gained through drug dealing.
