SIRNAK, Turkey (AA) – Three police officers have been injured in a gun attack carried out by PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey on late Tuesday, a security source has said.

According to the source, who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, the attack took place in the Beytussebap district of Sirnak province where the police officers were patrolling.

The wounded police were taken to Beytussebap State Hospital.

An operation to find the terrorists is currently underway in the area.

The PKK - listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S., and the EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state about 11 months ago.
