Turkey bags number 2 spot in Islamic Solidarity Games

Last day of games in Azerbaijani capital sees 71 gold, 67 silver and 57 bronze medals for Turkey

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey came in second at the end of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, on Monday with 71 gold, 67 silver and 57 bronze medals.

Azerbaijan ranked first with 75 gold, 50 silver and 37 bronze medals.

The Islamic Solidarity Games was first held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 with 6,000 athletes from 55 nations competing in 15 different sports categories including taekwondo, swimming, shooting, athletics/para-athletics, weightlifting, wrestling and water polo.

Turkey is scheduled to host the fifth contest in 2021.
