Attack targets Libya's Foreign Ministry in central Tripoli, kills at least 3

By Ecenur Colak

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey Tuesday strongly condemned the deadly terror attack targeting Libya’s Foreign Ministry in capital Tripoli.

In a statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry said: “We strongly condemn today’s terrorist attack against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord in Libya’s capital Tripoli.”

On Tuesday, at least three people were killed and nine others injured in the militant attack on the headquarters of Libya’s Foreign Ministry.

Turkey wished speedy recovery to the wounded and conveyed its condolences to the relatives of the deceased, the statement said.

“Turkey will maintain its solidarity with the people and the Government of Libya in the fight against terrorism,” it added.

Gunmen, believed to be a Daesh terrorist group, opened fire on the building before blowing up their explosive vests.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, though.

Libya has remained dogged by turmoil since 2011, when a bloody NATO-backed uprising led to the ouster and death of long-serving President Muammar Gaddafi after more than four decades in power.
