Turkey decries terrorist attack in Cameroonian island

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey Wednesday decried a deadly terrorist attack of Boko Haram in Cameroon at the weekend.

“We are saddened by the terrorist attack that took place in Darak, an island near Lake Chad in the Far North Region of Cameroon, claiming many lives and leaving several people injured,” the Foreign Ministry said in a written statement.

According to local media reports, 21 soldiers and 16 civilians were killed in the armed clashes between Boko Haram militants and Cameroonian army in Darak.

The local authorities arrested 15 terrorists and “neutralized” many.
