ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s state-run aid agency distributed 4,000 mosquito curtains in southern and northern Djibouti, as part of efforts to prevent malaria outbreak in the tiny African nation.

In a written statement, Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said the aid was distributed in Obock and Dikhil, a northern and southern town, respectively, to protect over 8,000 people in the towns from malaria.

Half of the aid was distributed at Central Camp -- which hosts nearly 1,500 Yemeni refugees -- and other areas of Obock, while the remaining half was distributed in Dikhil.

TIKA has carried out numerous significant projects to boost the health sector of various countries around the world.

Since it was founded 26 years ago, TIKA has carried out projects in a wide range of areas, such as education, health, infrastructure, and cultural heritage preservation in many regions of the world from the Balkans to the Middle East, and Africa to Latin America.
