Turkey expects more from world in anti-terror fight
Deputy PM Numan Kurtulmus says condemning terrorist attacks is not enough in fight against terrorism
By Ali Kemal Akan
ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's deputy prime minister said Monday that Turkey expected more than messages of solidarity from the international community in the fight against terror.
"We find these supports [from the world] positive, but we also underline that we do not find them to be enough," Numan Kurtulmus said after a Cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara.
"Our friends in those countries that communicated supportive messages should sincerely maintain an open and common fight against terrorism with Turkey," he added.
Saturday’s twin terror attacks -- one by a bomb-laden car and the other a suicide bomb -- against riot police near Besiktas’s Vodafone Arena killed 44 people and left 155 more wounded.
After the incident, many countries such as the United States, Iraq, France condemned the deadly terror attack and expressed their sympathies.
