Turkey extends condolences to Madagascar over ship accident that killed 64
Searches underway for 24 missing passengers

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey on Wednesday extended condolences to Madagascar over a ship accident that killed at least 64 people.
"We are deeply saddened that at least 64 people lost their lives due to the sinking of a ship yesterday (21 December) off the northeast coast of Madagascar," a Foreign Ministry statement said.
On Tuesday, 138 people on board the cargo vessel that was not authorized to transport people sank due to overload.
Fifty survivors have been found and searches are underway for 24 missing passengers, the Maritime and River Port Agency said.
