ANKARA (AA) - Calling for a political solution to the conflict in Syria, Turkey's opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on Tuesday said Kurds should be present at meetings for a new Syrian constitution.
He added: "We are also insistent on political solution in Syria. Kurds should be in the meetings of Syria's [new] constitution," HDP co-leader Sezai Temelli told his party's parliamentary group,
Syria's Constitutional Committee is mandated under the UN-facilitated Geneva process to prepare and draft constitutional reforms towards a political settlement in Syria.
Its first round of meetings began on Oct. 30 with the participation of 150 members.
Syria has only just begun to emerge from a devastating conflict that began in 2011 when the regime cracked down on demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.
